M-N Frances Yap, PhD

M.-N. Frances Yap is Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  Her lab is focused on decoding alternative ribosomes in methicilin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), by applying genetic, structural and biochemical principles to understand how ribosome composition and associations, antibiotics and stressors affect the translation of genetic codes and, in turn, give rise to phenotypic variations and differential manifestations of infection. Her research spans fundamental basic biology and extends to understanding bacterial physiology and human and plant diseases.
